“We can do hard things.” Glennon Doyle
I was reminded of this quote by @KimpaMoss in March when the US was shutting down. Little did I know at the time that this quote would be a theme for 2020.
What began as the best year the majority of my clients have ever seen, migrated to daily changes and uncertainty, challenges at home and work, learning to live and work in a virtual world, and our world becoming polarized in blatant, uncomfortable ways amidst murder, protests and riots.
You wouldn’t believe it if you read it in a non-fiction book, and yet here we are in 2020. This is as real as it gets.
To be a teen or twenty something right now is to be part of history in the making. We can chalk up 2020 as a one-of-a-kind experience evoking the best and worst in people.
What gifts are available in this messy world?
Times like this, build character. They forge a level of certainty of self for those courageous enough to lead, which cannot be denied. 2020 is a builder of leaders; people willing to stand for something amidst the uncertainty, hatred, challenges and changes.
It’s a time to take a stand and unite as one.
Those who seize the opportunity to lead during this challenging timeframe will know at a profound level: “we can do hard things” with a level of certainty that those who remain silent will not.
Where do you stand?
