The seduction of Spring.
When you live in the Midwest, the winter can be long. Really long.
Add a pandemic and it became a fear for many people that we’d really struggle to get through this year.
As we reach temps in the 50s and 60s in March, the first temptations and relief begins.
We joke that it’s “pre-Spring,” and yet it’s hard not to be seduced that we’ve turned the corner as we string together several temperate days in a row.
It will happen, there will be another cold shot, a snow flurry or two, and a disappointment that spring hasn’t sprung fully yet.
It will be met with distaste, disappointment and frustration, like all our dashed expectations.
Perhaps it’s not about the weather?
Perhaps we do better when we enjoy what is today, with no expectation of tomorrow, living fully when the sun is shining rather than living for what we believe today means?
