Life has its ups and downs, and we all face those seasons where it seems like nothing is going our way. Over the years (and after my own fair share of seasons like this!) I’ve learned a practice that always helps my perspective: giving what I need to others.

Am I looking for support? I find a way to support someone else. Do I feel a lack of appreciation? I double down on finding ways to express gratitude and appreciate others.

Why does this work? Because it’s like a magnet for experiencing what you deem scarce in the moment. You put out good energy, and guess what? It returns 10x to you. You’ve heard the saying, “What you put out into the world comes back to you,” and it’s true.

It works like this: have you ever purchased a vehicle? It’s likely you’ll see your exact vehicle everywhere you drive for weeks following your purchase. Prior to that purchase, you may have only seen your exact vehicle on a rare occasion.

Receiving works the same way. If you perceive anything lacking, offer it first – that quality, experience and feeling…especially when you don’t feel like it, and watch what happens. This is the law of attraction. It’s as if you become a magnet, filtering for what you offer. Oh, and it works whether you’re intentional or not, so if you’re having a “bad day” this is your secret weapon to transform your experience.

So, the next time you’re feeling down, generously give what you need. It will come back to you in abundance, and at the very least, you’ll make a positive impact. Who knows, you might even make someone’s day.
