From Seth’s pen to my Ears (#31)

Below is Seth Godin’s blog post from today. If you’re playing along on this blogging journey with me, you may recall that I took Seth’s challenge of writing 1,000 blog posts just a month ago. So far, it’s been relatively do-able. I’m keeping up with my 5/week promise and finding my awareness heightened as I move throughout my days. Knowing I’ve committed to write publicly keeps me accountable as I am better at keeping my word when I’ve committed externally.

What struck me, as I headed to the bathroom with my phone in hand – something I’ve broken myself from most days, but occasionally I still violate my own advice of not starting your day on a screen – was reading the post below.

As is frequent with reading Seth’s posts, I was struck with the words and how honest they are. They hit me between the eyes and were so spot on for me I immediately put my phone away and got back into bed snuggling up to my loving husband. It was the first of many “right” choices today. Thank you Seth Godin. My day was better because of you. My life is better because of you. Whether you know the difference you make for so many of us or not, I’m grateful for every correction I make because of your wisdom. (and all of you should take a look and seriously consider following him by the way…)

I shared this post with my family and my team. I seek to do less better. Today I did that, and we are all better for it. Thanks for the medicine I was ready to take. I needed it and in a world of digital, I’ll be printing this one until I can string together many days like today. Join me?

Busy is not the point

There’s a common safe place: Being busy.

We’re supposed to give you a pass because you were full on, all day. Frantically moving from one thing to the other, never pausing to catch your breath, and now you’re exhausted.

No points for busy.

Points for successful prioritization. Points for efficiency and productivity. Points for doing work that matters.

No points for busy.
