I’ll be honest with you – I’ve pursued perfectionism too often, and it’s typically not a pretty story. I’ve been on a relentless quest for perfection more times than I’d like to admit. It’s what makes me a firm believer in prioritizing completion over perfection and part of the driving force behind our book Chasing Perfection, Shatter the Illusion

You see, perfectionism often drags us into a never-ending cycle of edits and revisions, causing us to overthink and get stuck. It’s like quicksand for our creativity and productivity, and I’ve been there more times than I’d like to admit.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m still no expert at this. I’m far from perfect, but I’ve come to learn that the pursuit of perfection can be a slippery slope. It’s elusive and unrealistic every time.

So, why choose completion? Because it keeps us moving forward. It’s about setting achievable goals, maintaining momentum, and finishing what we start. Mistakes and imperfections are part of the journey, and I’ve learned more from them than from any pursuit of perfection.

Our world values efficiency and progress and I firmly believe that “done is better than perfect.” Embracing the flaws, learning from our experiences, and celebrating the beauty of progress through completion – that’s where we win.

It’s also where we begin.
