Thank you for playing along, this is the summary blog I write every 50 posts sharing my lessons while writing a blog every day in my journey to 1,000. This began when I accepted Seth Godin’s challenge from this blog post.
Again, certain random numbers matter more to me. 90% is a milestone that means I can see and feel the finish line. My mindset is optimistic, celebratory, and hopeful. I have confidence, almost certainty, it will happen. I’ve put the messy middle behind me…WOO HOO!
This experience of setting an almost four-year goal has shown me I can accomplish both a sprint or marathon when staying focused with discipline. This mindset is something we all have. To finish with joy, I need to do the work, tap into this momentum, and remain intentional with my actions.
Lessons to date:
- It’s okay if it’s a lumpy journey, progress is better than perfection.
- Doing the hard things will transform your story about yourself.
- Surround yourself with people who remind you it matters. Thank you to EVERY one of you who take the time to let me know you’re on the journey with me. YOU keep me going.
- Never doubt someone needs to hear your encouragement or appreciation ever. It matters.
- Ask for help, inspiration, and ideas when you’re stuck.
- You don’t have to have it all figured out, sometimes life is figuring it out and you need to pause and redirect. Good enough can be good enough when it’s not right; let go.
- Even if you’re a sprinter, you can build practices to run a marathon. Neither is better, you are more practiced at one or the other. Trust that.
- This process has made me a more intentional observer; that has been worth the time, energy, and effort.
- I’m a starter and a finisher, the middle is the rugged part for me – doesn’t matter what the goal is. My reminder is to not derail what I’m up to in the messy middle.
- It’s only work when I don’t enjoy what I’m doing. Learn to find the joy when I’ve committed to something.
