My thoughts added to Whisper of the Heart, 7 Rules of Life:
- Make peace with your past so it won’t screw up the present. (You can’t change the past or go back to it – let it live as it was and don’t let it have today or your future. Love it, learn from it and let it be what it is, history.)
- What others think of you is none of your business. (I’ve been saying this since I first heard it and it helps immensely to not take things personally. So does this acronym QTIP – Quit Taking It Personally.)
- Time heals almost everything, give it time. (Perfectly said. We’ll need time from 2020, you can’t rush this, accept that time heals and know you’ll get through it all.)
- Don’t compare your life to others and don’t judge them. You have no idea what their journey is all about. (With social media, this is distorted even more. You do YOU. The end. Celebrate others, wish them peace and grace and focus on YOUR game. Peace lives here.)
- Stop thinking too much, it’s alright not to know the answers. They will come to you when you least expect it. (The pandemic proved none of us have the playbook or the answers – how you lead during this time is all you have. Who have you been for people around you? Adjust if necessary.)
- No one is in charge of your happiness, except you. (Own it and if you aren’t happy adjust your thinking. Gratitude is the path to happiness – find some.)
- Smile. You don’t own all the problems of the world. (Thank goodness. Amidst all the challenge, change and adjustment, pause to reflect and notice what you’re most grateful for, the gifts of 2020 and the wins. It’s not all bad.)
